Believe it or not, HR software and social networking are beginning to be mentioned in the same breath. When social networking began to take off it was hard to imagine that it would one day be affected by human resources software, and vice versa. But guess what? That day has come.
Lawson, an HR software leader, is looking into the many ways that they can connect their applications with social networking sites such as Facebook. At the recent HR Technology Conference and Exhibition in Chicago, Lawson representatives showed viewers how companies can take job postings from their site, and with a couple of clicks post the same positions to Facebook. Additionally, the same companies can set up an employee referral program for positions that are filled by an applicant that is sent through the employee’s Facebook profile.
The great thing about connecting HR software and social networking services is that the possibilities are endless. Even though great strides have already been made, there is still so much more for HR software companies to look into. Although Lawson has made progress in this area, other heavy hitters such as Oracle and Workday are working on programs of their own.

Often times HR technology companies are far ahead of the actual companies that use thier applications. I have seen that for example with hosted solutions. The overall trend in technology is going towards hosted applications but I have found that HR departments have not caught on to that trend as of yet. I think the same thing could be said of the face book addition.
