Microsoft enters healthcare market

Microsoft has acquired a Thai-based company called Global Care Solutions, that specializes in hospital administration software that is said to reduce the actual time that people are waiting to see a doctor for an initial consultation. One of the hospitals that already uses the software is the Bumrungrad International Hospital, where waiting times have been reduced to 17 minutes.
GCS’s hospital solution has been on the market since 2000 in the Asia Pacific region. The system is already based on some Microsoft products, which will make things easier for them to adjust it to their needs.
Microsoft will market this product to the worldwide marketplac. The company has also bought Azyxxi, which produces software that will collect patient data and display it in real time,, and a start-up company whose main product is a search system designed to collate medical information.
